Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro can be considered a complete smartphone in a reasonable budget range. It means, if you want a total modern day Android experience at lowest possible price, this can be the gadget you are looking for. Now, we are aware that there are phones like Samsung Galaxy M20 around this price. We have finely complemented that device. But Redmi Note 7 Pro is ahead in a few important cases.
Xiaomi is providing a minimal “dot notch” design and a big 6.3″ Full HD+ display. The back side is made of glass which elegant gradient color effect. Both front and back side are protected by premium 5th generation Corning Gorilla Glass which is very much appreciated. The body is also P2i splash-proof and can handle light rain, water splits etc. Samsung Galaxy M20 is coming with a somewhat light plastic body with no strong protection which is a clear disadvantage considering the build. We find the body material is very important and as far as the design and build is concerned, we will definitely go for Redmi Note 7 Pro.
When you know that the chipset is a Snapdragon 675 one, you really don’t need to worry about performance. Multitasking and GPU tasks should be handled smoothly. But it is not of flagship level so too much pressure on graphics e.g. by using apps with high-graphics settings may cause lag. After comparing the specs sheet and seeing expert hands-on reviews we can conclude that the speed of Redmi Note 7 Pro (4GB version) is a little faster that Galaxy M20 (3GB Version). Samsung is well-known for their hardware and software optimization but Xiaomi is showing great improvement as well. Moreover, this device has a 4 GB RAM.
48+5 MP back camera is the big deal here for many. It shouldn’t be disappointing. We have even seen camera comparison with the latest flagship Apple iPhone XS Max and the difference wasn’t that huge. In fact, some of the closeup daylight shots were better in Redmi Note 7 Pro. It is surely a fine deal especially considering the price.
13 MP front camera is pretty good as well. But we have seen some lacking in quality and we think it could be slightly better considering the quality of primary camera.
The phone comes with Android Pie v9.0 running on MIUI 10. Android One could make this a one of a kind superior phone from our point of view. But MIUI 10 is well-optimized and should run without any issue. There is a big 4000 mAh battery with Quick Charge 4 support, but you need to buy an extra quick charger since there comes a 5V regular charger in the box. There are both fingerprint and face unlock available.
